Bobby Broom will be performing Friday and Saturday, May 2nd & 3rd, with the Pharez Whitted Sextet at Andy’s Jazz Club in Chicago, Illinois.
Since 1982, Pharez Whitted has worked with Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, George Duke, Kirk Whalum, Elvin Jones, Slide Hampton (his uncle), John Mellencamp and many more.
Among the many gigs he’s played are: the 1988 Presidential Inauguration, The Arsenio Hall Show, Billboard Music Awards, Carnegie Hall, and MoTown’s Music Showcase.
Pharez’s recordings include “Pharez Whitted,” “Mysterious Cargo” (MoTown); “People Make the World Go ‘Round” (MoJazz). In 2010 Broom and Whitted collaborated to produce “Transient Journey” (Owl) and “For the People” (Origin) in 2012.
Bobby Broom is one of the world’s leading Jazz guitarists and recording artists with ten albums, including 2012’s “Upper West Side Story” and a new release slated for 2014.
Bobby has performed with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Wynton Marsalis, Sonny Rollins, Kenny Burrell, Charles Earland, Kenny Garrett and Ron Blake, to name but a few.
