Bobby Broom Interview with Toronto Jazz FM 91’s Heather Bambrick

“Versatility … a sign of broad strokes of musical understanding, a quiver full of many stylistic arrows. That’s exactly what my guest this morning has. Bobby Broom has carved out a career that’s firmly placed him in several musical worlds, with Jazz as his home. He’s worked with Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey, Miles Davis, Dr. John, Ron Carter, Ramsey Lewis and many more. He reinvented pop and soul music of the 60s and 70s; transformed the hits of Stevie Wonder; he reinterpreted the music of Thelonious Monk; and established himself as an accomplished song writer. It’s his versatility and mainstream appeal that brought him together with Steely Dan on several tours, including the one that brings them to the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts this Saturday and Sunday. I’m delighted to welcome to the show, Bobby Broom.”
